About the Author
The married chefs of highly acclaimed Foreign Cinema restaurant in San Francisco, Gayle Pirie and John Clark met while cooking at Vicolo, a well-loved pizzeria, and moved on from there to work with Judy Rodgers at her famed Zuni Caf�. They are also the authors of Country Egg, City Egg. Gayle and John live in Berkeley, California, with their son and daughter.

Does not split cooking tasks...just a typical cookbook.

I thought this was one that splits up the cooking tasks between spouses. Its just a typical cookbook. Not sure why they advertised it this way. I sent mine back.

If you have ever been overwhelmed by variety while shopping for Tequila, this book is for you! After reading "Tequila 101" you will know exactly what you need and why you need it. Big thanks to the Tippling Bros. for sharing their knowledge and experience so that others can enjoy. The recipes offer so many flavor combinations there is sure to be a favorite for everyone and the stories they share are quite entertaining! If there are any Tequila lovers on your gift lists this is one they will LOVE! Nothing but good stuff here!!!

The Only Book On Tequila & Other Agave Spirits Cocktails You'll Ever Need

This is the one-stop, all-you-can-eat, touchstone, benchmark, reference tome on all things agave in the spirits and cocktail world, with a decent bit of simple, tasty food recipes tossed in. Beautifully photographed, this book coaches the rookie and delights the seasoned pro. Know what an orange-mullet garnish is? Jamaica syrup? Raicilla? A palenquero? It's all in here. There are a million tequila-cocktails and Mexico-lifestyle books that seem similar to Tad & Paul's book, but frankly that's like comparing a skateboard to the International Space Station. This is the book to buy. Buy this book, use this book, and pass it on.

I enjoyed it then in a print edition

I've posted on Greg's Discussion Page. He knows what's coming.

I read EON shortly after it was published in 1985, I think. I enjoyed it then in a print edition, probably paperback. So far as I can remember, there were few if any manuscript errors. Not so with this edition from Open Road Media. Mr. Bear has been poorly served by this e-media specialty house. The Publisher of the 2014 e edition owes us all a corrected file.

Amazon, you need to lay down standards for the books you sell. Your customers deserve well crafted editions. So do your authors. Those of us who read print editions, expect near perfection as the standard. Why should be receive less from you? If a file is corrected, make sure those of us who bought an imperfect one, or an early draft of a book that's later published in more finished form, get the final file, each and every time.

Greg Bear is one of the masters who is capable of imagining worlds that don't exist and filling them with detail. I liked it then. I like it now.

I Gave Up

I've enjoyed Greg Bear's books in the past and was excited to read this, especially because it offered a series. I slogged halfway through Eon, seeing the creative ideas that went into the strange vehicle call the The Stone. Fascinating science and science fiction explored worlds of possibilities. Science is my profession, yet the science was sometimes beyond me.

But I never felt like I knew or cared about the characters. Not one felt real to me as page after page showed odd science ideas yet rarely a sense of what they felt. The conflicts between characters felt like afterthoughts. Even the structure of the Stone - a focus of the novel - was obtuse. I rarely abandon a novel but I'm done with this one.

Classic fantasy, vividly told

Fantastic second book in the Nethergrim series. Just as I had hoped, in this volume we start to see more of the politics and systems of magic in this world and it is all so detailed that it seems utterly real. I can't wait for book 3!

This series is great for tweens/teens who aren't ready for Song of Ice and Fire and other adult series, but still want a story with great pacing, compelling characters, and real stakes. The darker elements of life in a fantasy universe are not glossed over here, and the plot is sophisticated enough that I had to cross-reference the map more than once.

The Skeleth is an excellent return to the fantastic world and characters established in The Nethergrim. A story full of political intrigue, rising adventure, ancient riddles, loyal companions (animal and otherwise), and enough surprises to delight someone of any age!

darker, but still a quick read

I received this book for free from Philomel Books in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

I liked the first book a little more than this one. But I still really enjoyed this book as well. One of the things I loved about the last one was the strong friendship between Edmund, Katherine and Tom. And how they worked together to save the children stolen by the Nethergrim. In this book they’re separated for a great deal of the story. Tom is away with Katherine’s father, and then ends up on a quest of his own. Edmund and Katherine are in the same village still, but they’re kept apart by various things.

This book had a much darker feel than the first one. Which makes sense, both because of the friends not being together, as well as because of all the evil that they now know is loose in the world. Offsetting that, there are possible love interests for all three main characters. While it isn’t a huge thread for Tom or Edmund, Katherine spends a lot of the book with hers.

We learn more about the magic, including the fact that there are three branches. We get to meet the Revered Elder for one of them. We also learn more about the last time the Nethergrim was active in the land. A little of the history about why she was allowed into the world that time, and how some of her minions were contained.

All three of the main characters are challenged in new ways. When they get back together, and fight the new evil, you can see how they’ve grown and changed over the course of the book. Edmund has learned a few new tricks with magic. Katherine is even more sure of herself and her abilities. And Tom… Well, you’ll see!

This was just as quick a read as the last book. If you haven’t read this series yet, you need to do so!

So easy... a Cave man can do it.

Very simple. Sometimes going complex doesn't work for everyone - even in the age of P90X and Insanity.Since this fitness book is coming from a man who was obviously fit enough to survive and thrive as a SAS operator - I think the SAS Personal Trainer takes the basic sound concepts of physical fitness and allows even a beginner to have a clear path to draw from.

to become really fit the military way

If you like to see how to get fit the military way this is a very great book. This one is twards the sas forces. Contrary to the US forces which emphasises a lot of upper body strenght you see here the total approach. SAS troopers need to marsh endlessly. (read about their gruelling selection course). This books tells how to get fit, using circuit training, weight programms (not used for the beach boys who just wants to look pumped up, but this program is just to be prepared for the rigours of combat). More is told to train for endurance by running, swimming, cycling and of course the famous endurance marches. At the end a total programme is given for the beginner, intermediate and the advanced. This great book is finished with telling you more about nutrition (I said nutrition NOT pills for those beach bubbles) and mental approaches. I really recommend this book together with Andrew Wheales fighting fit (which gives sas, paratrooper and royal commando programmes) and Steward Smith's the complete guide to navy seal fitness.
With those 3 books you cannot go wrong and be the fittest and mental (because of this training) toughest person.
So buy these 3 and be FIT and combat ready.

Australia’s vast north-west coast can justifiably be described as a frontier wilderness: sparsely populated, incredibly beautiful but often inhospitable, with a rich but largely undocumented biodiversity. For over a decade, Dr. John Huisman, in collaboration with students and colleagues, has collected and studied the marine plants of the region, these activities uncovering numerous undescribed genera and species and resulting in a manyfold increase in the known flora. His accounts of the marine algae will be presented in two volumes of the Algae of Australia series; this part describing the green and brown algae, to be followed by a second describing the red algae.

This volume is an authoritative floristic account of the marine green and brown algae of northwestern Australia and includes 68 genera and 171 species. Each taxonomic level, from division to species, is fully described, incorporating current nomenclature, morphology, keys and numerous illustrations, many in color. It is the first detailed account of the marine plants of tropical Western Australia and documents numerous taxa recorded for the first time from the region, together with newly described species of Avrainvillea, Codium, Sargassum and Ulva.

During the height of the Mexican muralist movement, they established successful careers as easel painters and created work that has become an integral part of Mexican modernism. Although the iconic Kahlo is now more famous, the two artists had comparable reputations during their lives. Both were regularly included in major exhibitions of Mexican art, and they were invariably the only women chosen for the most important professional activities and honors.

In a deeply informed study that prioritizes critical analysis over biographical interpretation, Nancy Deffebach places Kahlo's and Izquierdo's oeuvres in their cultural context, examining the ways in which the artists participated in the national and artistic discourses of postrevolutionary Mexico. Through iconographic analysis of paintings and themes within each artist's oeuvre, Deffebach discusses how the artists engaged intellectually with the issues and ideas of their era, especially Mexican national identity and the role of women in society. In a time when Mexican artistic and national discourses associated the nation with masculinity, Izquierdo and Kahlo created images of women that deconstructed gender roles, critiqued the status quo, and presented more empowering alternatives for women. Deffebach demonstrates that, paradoxically, Kahlo and Izquierdo became the most successful Mexican women artists of the modernist period while most directly challenging the prevailing ideas about gender and what constitutes important art.

I felt this was a poorly written text and found is of very little use compared to other books written by much superior writers.
I am an expert and practicing engineer. This is poorly written and even experts who already know how to use ANSYS find this text poorly written.
