Get this book and align your business practices for big benefits

25 Building Blocks to Create a Conscientious Organization begins with the idea of a conscientious leader as the cornerstone of building a business that serves people who want to become customers. Yes, people want to become customers because the business is authentic, fair, and delivers products and services that build a better life.
Moving to a better life is the true path delivered through the 25 building blocks. Stepping into each building block, I discovered the power of authenticity, simplicity, community, and not straying from the path I set for my business.
Most of the chapters address leadership, the pitfalls and lessons that come through each move we make building a business. A few other chapters deal specifically with customers and employees. In each case, the chapters probe and teach how to communicate authentically, how to set a path for conscientious operation and bring a positive effect in all activities.
From the second chapter, Do You Measure Up to Being a “Cause Drive” Organization? I recognized areas of improvement for my business whether or not it becomes a Benefit Company or goes through the highest step of becoming a certified B Corp. These improvements will appeal to Gen X and Millennials, whether they are customers, employees, or partners, making my business more valuable to each of them.
Sure, I give back, volunteering at community events and spending summer weekends as a volunteer backcountry ranger working with the public on wilderness trails in the Mt Hood National Forest. But I never considered incorporating these activities as part of the business, as a cause that drives purchase, employment, and client decisions.
Am I ready to move to become a Benefit Company or push to that B Corp level? No, at least not yet, but these 25 building blocks set a path I can follow to develop further whether my business qualifies or not. I will benefit from more business and from making the world a little bit better through my awareness. My customers will both benefit from a more honest and authentic relationship.

I can really embrace this concept of conscientious leadership! Its what's needed in these chaotic times. Inspiring!
