beautifully written with respect and affection

An older book that is as contemporary as tomorrow, beautifully written with respect and affection, one that could serve as a text in any restaurant hospitality school (or cooking class). I could not put it down.

Not quite!

This book is a real and living illustration as to why newspaper columnists should perhaps think twice before attempting a venture into the real world of books .Gill writes to a formula ,if you've read one of his columns you've read them all. Self obsessed,thin and boring this book would have best remained on the shelves.Having knocked out two dismal and embarrassing novels ,he has obviously decided to try and redeem himself with this dreadful mishmash ,but sadly ,I think he needn't have bothered.
